Programs

Our English courses begin at the basic level and progress to intermediate and advanced levels. This intensive multi-level program can be tailored to the student's individual needs. Upon enrollment, each student is assessed with a placement test and then introduced to a suitable classroom at their learning level. Continuous progress is possible in step with English language acquisition. The usual time required for completion form basic to advanced levels varies accordingly to the student's abilities (usually 6 to 9 months). EAL certificates are issued for each of the three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.

Basic Level English (EAL)
2 months duration

EAL at the basic level emphasizes development of the student's listening, comprehension and oral skills. Through intense instruction in the rules of grammar, diction and pronunciation; the student will learn how to communicate effectively, if simply. Enhancing the student's reading and writing abilities with an introduction to the local idioms and expressions of Canadian speech, is an important aspect of this course.

Intermediate Level English (EAL)
2 months duration

EAL at this level places a major emphasis on cultivating the student's reading and writing abilities. The student's English vocabulary will be significantly increased, as well as the ability to write using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Actively engaging in classroom debate and discussion will result in improved pronunciation of English speech.

Advanced Level English (EAL)
2 months duration

Upon completion of advance level EAL training, the student will be able to fully and easily comprehend verbal information as communicated through statements, stories, lectures etc. The student will be more than adequately prepared to express his/her opinions and be adept at describing events in a thorough manner both orally and in writing.
