Applied Linguistics Centre, established in 1978, has had an excellent reputation with English language learners from around the world. Applied Linguistics has served international students and business executives with English as an Additional Language (EAL) instruction for three decades.

Applied Linguistics is a division of Herzing College, which was founded in 1965, and is located within the college. EAL students will have the unique experience of learning English in a career focused college environment.

Applied Linguistics is a recognized TOEFL and TOEIC training facility. TOEFL elevates the student's knowledge of the English language to fluency levels acceptable for university entrance. A student scoring 550 or better on the TOEFL test is able to apply to one of the three local universities to continue their education. Some students may even wish to continue with career focused training at Herzing College where continued EAL support is available.

Where TOEFL prepares a student for university entrance, TOEIC prepares a student with the English necessary for entry into the world of international trade and finance. The course prepares the student for employment in today's business world as English is often the language of International commerce.
